The half pence went out of circulation after decimalisation.we have an old five pence and ten pence that are no longer legal tender.the most common 'old 'coin is the threpenny bit.none of them are worth anything sorry.Threpenny bit is octagon(I think)and is bronze in colour.Maybe you could describe the coins or whats wrote on them for more help.good luck !! xxx

If they have the queens head on they have to be honoured by law! Don 't take any sh-t from people that tell you otherwise!

Totally defaced ones. The other side of, er, the coin, is that some foreign money works in UK slot machines and vice versa. E.g., the old German one-mark coin was the same size/ weight as our old shilling, but worth well over twice as much - shilling was useful but illegal in autobahn slot machines for drinks etc. (been there, done that). Old Aussie coins also were same as Brit too. Look for a 1933 penny in your coins.

Since when has the 50p not been legal tender?

Yes the old 5p and the old 10p

The big 10p, the big 5p and the 1/ 2p are all I can think of. ETA and anything mutilated in the school science lab, like the pennies that go really thin when you dip them in some solution. That 's treason though, as it is defacing the Queen 's image.

The big 5p, the big 10p and the 1/ 2p. Also the old 6d was valid for a while after decimalisation and was worth 2 1/ 2 pence. I 'm still using 50p coins....

Unfortunately not a lot in my estimation! However depending on the dates and rarity of them you might get something through ebay! Have a look there at "coins and collectables " and see what is selling at the moment! Hope this helps
