Question: What can you buy for each of the british coins?
(Posted by: Babo's Bird on 2008-06-20 13:26:08)
My daughter has homework which is to say what you can buy for each British coin. So you can& #039;t add them together to buy something,it& #039;s just what can you get for a penny,or what can you get for 5p? You are allowed to say that, for example,a pound will get you a third of a £3.00 magazine, though. Any ideas welcomed! The coins are : 1p,2p,5p,10p,20p,50p,£1,£2 Thanks Babo http:/ / www.fatbananafeet.com/ pocket- money.html Agreed that the question is a bit fatuous - doesn& #039;t change the fact that that& #039;s the question. Thanks for the ideas so far everyone. |

Oh, interesting assignment. Try taking her to a little neighborhood store and letting her find out for herself. |

1p = penny sweet 2p - chewing gum (in wrapper) 5p = pack of noodles (cheap version of supernoodles in my local supermarket - bargain) 10p = wham bar 20p = bottle of cheap lemonade 50p = pack of seal easy envelopes £1 = pack of disinfectant wipes £2 = new mug - Sorry if they are boring - but they are all genuine prices in my local area |

Whatever anyone is prepared to accept as payment for an item, I know of a lady whose husband went on holiday with his mistress. His wife sold his full set of golf clubs for 1p while he was away. It seems rather counter productive to allow you to say a £1 will get one third of a £3 magazine. The top coin is £2 so why not find something that cost £2 and say each of the other coins will buy you the appropriate fraction. The question is a bit fatuous. |

Tell her to go with you to the supermarket and keep her eyes open. |
