I also wanted to know if it is normal for all of your Dimes to have p on them?

Actually prior to 1979 the only time US coins minted in Philadelphia had a mint mark were the silver war nickels (1942-1945). In 1979, the Susan B. Anthony Dollar coins had a P put on for the Philadelphia, then in 1980 all coins minted in Philadelphia (except the Lincoln Cent) had a P mint mark put on them. Also from 1965 until 1967 the only US coins with a mint mark were the silver clad Kennedy half dollars minted in Denver. It might also interest you to know there have been eight mints in the history of US Mint. Philadelphia, PA: P Denver, CO: D San Francisco, CA: S West Point, NY: W (proof coins only) Charlotte, NC: C (gold coins only) Dahlonega, GA: D (gold coins only) Carson City, NV: CC New Orleans, LA: O Also, you should collect whatever you want to collect. I know people collecting both P and D coins and other people collecting just one from each year. I hope that helps.

Personally, i would only collect those coins which are rare and of course those which have precious metal content. Also, if any coin is worth more than face value, it 's probably good to keep it. Unfortunately, coin dealers are usually happy to sell you coins, but never give you a good price if you want to sell yours to them.
